Frequently asked questions.
Everything you might be wondering about sessions, pricing, prep, and the process. Don’t see it here? Email me.
How much do actor headshots cost in Boston?
Actor headshot sessions start at $395 for a 30-minute mini (one look, two retouched finals); the standard 90-minute session is $495 with two looks and six retouched selects. Creative sessions — portraits, dance, lifestyle — follow the same pricing, and professional/corporate headshots start at $245. Full tier-by-tier pricing is on the booking page.
How long is a session?
Most actor headshot sessions run 90 minutes. Creative portrait sessions run 2 hours. Corporate headshot sessions run 30–45 minutes per person. You'll never feel rushed — sessions are scoped so we have time to warm up, shoot, switch looks, and review along the way.
How fast will I get my photos back?
You'll see proof selects within 48 hours. Once you choose your finals, fully retouched high-res files are delivered within one week. If you have a casting deadline or submission window, tell me upfront — I'll prioritize.
How should I prep for a headshot session?
Three things: sleep, hydration, and wardrobe. Get a good night's sleep. Drink water the day before — skin shows it. Bring 3–5 wardrobe options in solid colors and textures that read well on camera. I have a full prep guide on the blog that covers everything.
What should I wear?
Solid colors, simple necklines, fitted but comfortable. Bring the looks that match the roles you actually book — if you read for teachers and lawyers, bring a button-down. If you read for younger or rock-adjacent, bring something with edge. The full wardrobe guide walks through colors, necklines, what to skip, and how to layer for more looks from fewer pieces.
Do you retouch the photos?
Yes. Every final image gets professional retouching — skin, stray hairs, fly-aways, color, contrast. The goal is "you on your best day," not a different person. I don't smooth out the things that make you, you. (Casting directors notice over-retouching and don't love it — more on that in what casting directors actually look at.)
Where do you shoot?
In Boston and Greater Boston, including Cambridge, Somerville, and surrounding areas. I shoot on location (natural-light spaces I've scouted) or in studio depending on the look we're going for. Travel is possible for the right project — reach out and let's talk.
Do you work with non-actors?
Absolutely. About a third of my work is for non-performers — founders, lawyers, authors, musicians, and creatives who need a portrait that doesn't look like a stock photo. The actor-prep approach (direction, real conversation, no stiff posing) works on anyone.
What happens if it rains or I need to reschedule?
Reschedules with at least 48 hours' notice are free. Inside 48 hours, the retainer applies to your rescheduled date. For outdoor shoots, I monitor weather the week of and we'll proactively move if it's going to be ugly — your final photos shouldn't look like you fought through a storm.
Can I get unretouched files?
I deliver only retouched selects as part of the standard package. If you need additional retouched images beyond your included finals, they're available à la carte. Raw / unretouched files aren't released — that's a standard practice across professional portrait work and protects both of us.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. A 50% retainer holds your date; the balance is due the week of the shoot. For larger projects (team headshots, multi-person corporate shoots, productions), I'm happy to invoice net-30 or set up a custom payment plan.
Can I see proofs before retouching?
Yes. You get a private proof gallery within 48 hours of the shoot. You pick your selects, I retouch those, and final files land in your hands within a week. No surprises, no upsells.
